PPG Industries, an $10 billion leading producer of coatings, glass, chemicals, and fiberglass is seeking talented people for an EH&S Specialist position within the Aerospace business unit at Mojave, CA manufacturing facility.


The incumbent is responsible for leading and managing the Mojave facility safety and health process in accordance with the Aerospace SBU and Corporate EHS strategy. The incumbent will provide leadership, direction and training that will ensure a safe and healthful workplace for the Mojave employees while ensuring compliance with applicable safety and health laws and regulations to minimize current and future liabilities. Evaluates site equipment, systems and work procedures and recommend effective procedures for safe use. Conducts industrial hygiene monitoring and implement any required procedural changes. Assists in preparing required Environmental Reports in accordance with federal, state, and corporate requirements/regulations. Active member of the Emergency Response Team. Oversee activities of incident investigation, behavior based safety, ergonomic and site safety teams. Organize and maintain the various required EH&S training programs including OSHA, RCRA and emergency response. Prepare site EH&S reports. Coordinate procurement of site PPE. Responsible for ASC-Seattle?s safety programs. Meet 5-S goals in areas where responsible. Complies with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and procedures at all times. Performs other tasks as assigned.

Successful candidate must have a Bachelor?s degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Bachelor?s Degree in directly applicable field and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Must have at least five years of directly applicable EH&S experience in the manufacturing industry. Must possess the ability to make independent contributions, provide leadership, and organizational ability, possess good problem solving skills and effectively communicate at all levels. Must have a broad understanding/knowledge of federal and state safety and health regulations and topics including industrial hygiene, OSHA regulations, ergonomics, worker?s compensation and emergency response. Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English. Must be able to work to project deadlines and provide oral presentations. Must be able to travel with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to wear required PPE with or without reasonable accommodation. Initiative/enthusiasm and the ability to work independently with a wide range of personalities is a plus.
