Position Description:

Job Statement: Co-ordinates daily safety and employment activities relating to a specific zone office or division. This includes, but is not limited to, OSHA/MSHA compliance, safety and new hire training, processing new hire paperwork, employment status changes, workers compensation, injury and illness reporting, scheduling, and effective management of the safety and staffing of drilling operations. Decision making authority would be limited to ensuring appropriate staffing and safety of a project or drill sites.

Essential Functions:
? Assist with the coordination of the Boart Longyear Company safety program. This includes administering existing safety systems such as Behavior Based observations, drill rig/station audits, 5-point workplace inspections and job safety analysis.
? Coordinate and administer annual/routine safety related training programs for the zone office(s).
? Coordinates advertising, recruiting, selection, hire and termination of employees. Strive for optimum performance of drill crews.
? Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.



Position Requirements:

Job Specifications

A four year degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Safety/Health, or an Engineering discipline is required.

Previous work experience in teh construction or dtilling industry is preferred, however, theosition could be filled by an entry level candidate.

Strong communication skills in order to effectively liaise with new/existing employees, and clients.

Ability to perform duties with minimal direction.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical data, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.

Strong planning and organizational skills.

Ability to work varied hours depending on business needs.

Familiarty with OSHA/MSHA and safety laws and regulations.

Some field experience is strongly preferred.

Preference given to candidates with previous supervisory experience.
