Environmental Compliance Specialist

This position is responsible for completing all California State, Federal and local regulatory reporting paperwork; maintaining the hazardous waste data base; developing, updating and auditing internal safety programs to insure compliance; provide technical assistance to managers; provide details on regulations through research, case studies, and letters of interpretation; research and recommend cost savings. Complete Federal, State and local record keeping paperwork. Determine hazardous waste generator status, obtaining the hazardous waste ID number when required, and cancel inactive numbers which are no longer active;  Answer routine safety/environmental questions from the stores;  Conduct research and make recommendations with respect to safety/environmental issues;  Conduct safety training;  Maintain safety/environmental data bases and hard copy files;  Complete California Business Plans, SB198, hazardous materials inventories and other state specific environmental, safety and transportation requirements.

Two to three years of general environmental experience with an emphasis on handling hazardous waste in a manufacturing environment is required.


Four-year college degree in environmental sciences or related field is required.

Bilingual preferred with ability to translate documents and conduct training in Spanish.

50% travel is required.  Most travel is within California.
**This position is located in California but will report to the Cleveland Headquarters.  The position can be located anywhere in California.**
