Environmental Field Technician

The Engineering and Infrastructure Business Unit of SAIC, with revenues of $300+ million is seeking to hire Environmental Field Technicians to perform important remediation management work supporting major international Energy (oil & gas) customers.  We are experiencing fast, dynamic growth and seek highly motivated, customer-oriented individuals to join the team. Job Description:

? Operate and maintain various groundwater and soil remediation systems, site characterization (soil and groundwater), remedial construction, groundwater monitoring, environmental utilities/facility operation and emergency response.

? Field support includes site visits/studies, groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, and subcontractor supervision. May include some office support such as data entry, however most work is conducted in the field in an outdoor setting. 

? The position will be based out of Chicago.

? Works under the direction of Sr. Field Technician.

? Travel to various sites in the Chicago area.

 

Required Experience/ Skills / Education:



 

? Knowledge of and experience with operation and maintenance of soil vapor extraction and groundwater treatment systems required.

? OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER required.

? Ability to read and write effectively and to read and follow drawings and written instructions.

? Strong communication skills. Computer knowledge in the MS Windows desktop environment preferred.

? Must be a team player with a strong work ethic.

? High school degree and 1-3 years related field experience.



 

Desired Skills:

 

? Experience working on sites such as service stations and fuel terminals impacted by petroleum products in preferably in the Chicago area.  

? Construction and/or electrical experience desired.

? First aid and CPR training desired.
