Environmental Health & Safety Manager: build on solid safety record in consultative role

In this role you'll have the opportunity to bring a great deal of creativity to maximize the impact of safety programs. You'll also broaden your experience as this position includes aspects of security and facilities management. You'll enjoy a good deal of autonomy (assuming you are achieving your objectives) in acting as a consultant to internal clients in five sales & service facilities between Ventura and El Cajon that employ about 280 people (you'll spend about 30% of your time in the field). Your mission will be to build on our solid safety record and bring new energy to our programs to ensure we're taking a proactive approach not merely to compliance, but to supporting the safety and health of our employees. This will include directing the implementation of first aid/CPR, bloodborne pathogens, defensive driving, and pollution control programs. You'll provide direction to two Maintenance Technicians who support the five sites, and also oversee security (including coordinating key issue) at our Irvine facility, which includes our corporate headquarters along with the sales & service shop.

To be a good fit for this position you'll have at least five years of experience in Safety, including demonstrated success with a consultative approach, in shop or industrial environments -- a background in the automotive industry would be ideal. We're looking for a professional with the ability not only to deliver persuasive and motivational stand-up presentations, but also to "tailor" the materials to be relevant to different audiences, from diesel mechanics to office professionals. Experience with defensive driving training is a plus, as is a facilities background. A bachelor's degree and safety certifications are preferred but not required.
