Environmental Health and Safety Technician

Aviza Technology is growing and we are looking to hire an Environmental Health & Safety Technician.  This position will be responsible for organizing and maintaining supplies for the Emergency Response Team.  This also includes responding to emergencies.  This position will conduct environmental and safety inspections; help solve workplace safety problems, i.e., wastewater, storm water, drinking water sampling.  May conduct training sessions on hazardous materials and hazardous waste, or related topics.

 

Must be able to pass physicals, wear a respirator, and work in the field.  Will be required to lift, pull or carry items of size and weight up to 50 lbs., operate certain equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, pallet jacks and pumps.

 

The incumbent must have experience necessary to work with hazardous materials.  Must be willing and able to wear a respirator including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).  Fieldwork and sampling activities will be routine.  This position is a 24-hour emergency call.

 

The successful candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science or related technical degree; OSHA 40 Hour Hazardous Material Technician Training; First Aid/CPR Training.  Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, the Internet and Email programs.  Must be able to work alone without much guidance.  Must be a self-motivated starter who can effectively and assertively communicate with government agencies, contractors, management, employees, both verbally and in writing. 

 

Knowledge of permitting procedures and paperwork required by government agencies is helpful.  Some electrical and mechanical skills/knowledge is a plus
