Environmental Material Handler

OES has an immediate opportunity for an Environmental Material Handler in its Azusa, California location.



Overview



This position is responsible for performing a variety of routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks. These tasks include all types of manual labor in cleaning and decontamination operations, and handling, packing, unloading, and loading containers of hazardous materials for processing at site or transportation to appropriate disposal facilities. The right candidate must be very flexible with their schedule and be willing to learn numerous tasks associated with the hazardous waste industry. Qualifications



High School diploma or GED equivalent required. An Associate of Arts degree from an accredited community college with emphasis in environmental skills highly preferred. Prior work experience of 1 to 2 years in the hazardous waste industry in a related position with proficiency in handling a forklift and a variety of tools highly preferred. Current OSHA 24 or 40 Hour HAZWOPER training highly preferred.



Duties & Responsibilities



1. Unloads various sizes of drums and/or containers off of or on to trailers for appropriate disposal at site or transportation to other sites.



2. Construct boxes and/or fiber containers and stacks, numbers, and loads containers on skids in processing area for eventual utilization.



3. Use a variety of tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, jackhammers, etc. to attain required weight for proper disposal of hazardous waste.



4. Transport hazardous waste materials from storage facilities to incinerator docks or processing areas as directed.



5. Decontaminate and dispose of drums and/or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.



6. Complete all necessary paperwork for processing hazardous waste to include transportation of materials to and from various locations.



7. On a daily basis, indicate materials utilized in the disposal of waste and insure that equipment is maintained.



Since there is no relocation assistance available for this position, therefore only candidates from the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area will be considered.
