Environmental Specialist - Kuwait

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conducts compliance inspections/audits/assessments and analysis.

2. Works under general supervision.

3. May operate, maintain and monitor various environmental operating systems.

4. Prioritizes tasks per deadlines.

5. Prepares and revises various technical documents for internal and external audit.

6. Oversees the use of appropriate sampling and monitoring equipment, procedures and guidelines.

7. Directs junior personnel for compliance with RCRA, DOT, OSHA, OEBGD and CSA guidelines.

8. Reviews detailed recording keeping for order/ delivery/storage and use of all hazardous chemicals and other necessary supplies.

9. Perform consolidation operations.

10. Leads hazmat spill clean up operations.

11. Administers hazardous materials/waste and recycle programs, drinking water or other environmental programs.

12. Communicates personnel/operational questions and issues to the management.

13. Confers with military POC?s on a daily basis.

14. Prepare equipment Work Orders.

15. Excellent leadership and customer service. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 Education: M.S. Degree in Environmental Science/Mgt. or related field and 1 years experience, B.S. Degree in Environmental Science/Mgt. and 3 years of direct work experience, or A.A. with 5 years. Experience may be substituted for degree, on a year for year basis.Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point.

 Experience:

a.   Depending on education, minimum of 1 year of experience working with Hazardous materials, Hazardous waste or other environmental related areas.

b. Must have demonstrated proficiencies in environmental field operations.

c.    Military service/contact and overseas experience a plus.

 

 

 Specialized knowledge: Know 29 CFR, 40 CFR and 49 CFR. Knowledge of OEBGD and the Kuwait Final Governing Standard (FGS) is desirable.  Knowledge of chemical properties/principles.Ability to operate heavy equipment (i.e. Trucks and forklift) a plus.Ability to obtain a Kuwait drivers license is required.

 Skills: Excellent communication skills (written/verbal).Excellent Organizational/Planning skills.  Ability to interact with all levels of workers (including high-ranking officials).Must be exceedingly self motivated. Must be able to use Microsoft word.

 Work Environment and Physical DemandsHarsh Kuwait weather conditions.No existing medical conditions that could be aggravated by constant exposure to intense climate changes.Must be able to wear a respiratory.Observe all safety/environmental policies in compliance with federal/military and local laws.Office environment.  Work days:  Saturday through Wednesday.  Hours:  6 AM ? 5PM, except Wednesday, 7 AM ? 4 PM.  48 hour work week.Ability to lift 50 lbs. Unassisted on a frequent basis.
