MWH is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Health and Safety Supervisor to be located in the Labs in Monrovia, California. The successful candidate will be the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for the Labs. As RSO, responsibilities include maintaining all necessary programs under applicable federal and state regulations, including all necessary record keeping.

Company Health and Safety Supervisor for approximately 150 full-time employees. Facility receives and analyzes water samples using all-types of analytical methods. Job duties include: Develop, implement, and provide oversight of site-specific safety procedures, and with the assistance of corporate EH&S, ensure compliance and 'best practice' in preparing all health and safety plans for laboratory facility. Plan, implement and supervise safety training in compliance with both corporate safety program standards and California (CalOSHA, etc.) standards. Primary health and safety position at location; will also direct and supervise the Hazardous Waste Disposal staff. Promote a 'safety-first' culture by daily interaction with all aspects of the laboratory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Prepare, issue, and implement company safety program in compliance with company and state requirements.
2. Perform all types of safety and health activities such as site audits, periodic program review, preparation of company standards, notification to management of safety issues/ problems, etc.
3. Act as primary point of contact with Vice President, corporate EH&S, regulatory agencies, subcontractors and/or internal departments on safety related matters as required.
4. Insure company standards as outlined in safety program are effectively implemented.
5. Insure adequate corrective measures are implemented in cases of noncompliance.
6. Assure that all laboratory employees follow safe work practices and use company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
7. Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
8. Function as a permanent member of site safety committee.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ' HEALTH AND SAFETY SUPERVISOR

1. Promote safe and efficient lab working conditions as well as safe employee activities through best practice safety management, company programs and written procedures and close interaction with supervisory personnel.
2. Oversee the conduct of work area inspections, and participate in any personal injury investigations.
3. Oversee the documentation of all accidents, health and/or safety violations, and unsafe conditions/activities.
4. Review documentation to insure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required.
5. Accompany all safety, health and insurance inspectors on walk through tours. Coordinate/assist in preparing written appeals for safety violation citations.
6. Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
7. Assure that all laboratory employees follow safe work practices and use company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.

Education Requirements: 4-year technical or occupational safety/health degree.

Experience Requirements: 4+ years lab and/or industrial safety experience. Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations. Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures essential. Good interpersonal and communication skills essential. Thorough working knowledge of regulatory agency quality assurance/quality control activities. Proven ability to supervise personnel and excellent verbal/written communication skills required.
Proven ability to work in highly dynamic and team-intensive atmosphere.

Equivalent combination of experience and training may be substituted.
