Industrial Hygienist - Convent

Location: Convent, Louisiana, United States Motiva Enterprises LLC, a joint venture between Shell Oil Company and Saudi Refining Inc., refines, distributes, and markets oil products in the eastern and southern United States. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Motiva refines and markets gasoline more than 7,000 Shell-branded gasoline stations.

Company assets include three refineries with a combined capacity of 725,000 barrels per day and ownership interest in 46 refined product storage terminals with an aggregate storage capacity of approximately 19 million barrels.

Motiva Enterprises LLC is currently seeking an Industrial Hygienist for its Convent, Louisiana location.

Responsibilities:
In this position, you will be responsible for providing an oversight role for the plant industrial program, which is designed to provide a healthful workplace for all employees. This includes performing as a technical resource for: (1) development of industrial hygiene surveys, (2) selection of hazard control measures (3) preparation of procedures and plans (4) preparation and presentation of employee training, (5) coordination of selected corporate and regulatory programs, and (6) participation in other plant activities.

Key Accountabilities:
- Prepare workplace qualitative exposure assessment guidelines
- Conduct qualitative exposure assessments
- Prepare industrial hygiene sampling strategy
- Review and report industrial hygiene monitoring data
- Provide guidance in the selection of engineering controls for health hazards
- Select employee personal protective equipment such as gloves, clothing, hearing protection and respiratory protection
- Consult with management and employees on personal protection measures
- Interpret government regulations and corporate guidelines for application to the plant
- Write and update safety procedures, compliance plans and department procedures
- Assemble employee training sessions
- Develop training presentations
- Serve as a presenter in employee training sessions
- Administer the MSDS Online computer database
- Oversee the company Health Surveillance System
- Prepare SARA 311 and 312 reports
- Act as the Radiation Safety Officer for the refinery
- Fill role of Respiratory Protection Program Administrator
- Audit refinery departments for compliance with HS&E requirements
- Track the HS&E Department?s compliance with refinery training requirements
- Fill role in the plant Incident Command System during emergency incidents
- Report on progress of industrial hygiene activities
- Issue hot work and confined space entry permits

Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have approximately 5 or more years experience in industrial safety and emergency response. A Bachelor?s Degree is preferred. You will be a Certified Industrial Hygienist. A CSP is preferred.
