SAFETY/ENVIRONMENTAL COORDINATOR

 

Job Purpose:

Controls pollution by identifying sources and methods of control.


Duties include assisting the Environmental-Health & Safety Manager in the administration of a successful safety & environmental program through safety presentations, training, record keeping and other related procedures.

 

Job Requirements:

 

?  Knowledge of Environmental-Health and Safety Regulations

?  Certificate from a credited Training Program-Facility, or 2 years on the job experience is desired.

?  Strong organizational skills

?  Self Motivated

?  Ability to communicate and relate well with others

?  Administrative Skills.  Able to type reports, chart, data entry, file.

?  Willingness to learn

?  Current Driver?s License.

 

Helpful but not required:

 

?  Water Technician

?  Degree in Environmental or Safety

?  C.P.R./1st Aid Certified

?  Bilingual (English-Spanish)

?  EMT Certified

?  B.A.T Certified

Duties:

* Identifies sources of pollution by collecting and analyzing data regarding emission measurements, atmospheric monitoring, meteorological and mineralogical assessments, and soil and water samples.



* Identifies citizen/consumer requirements by conducting surveys and interviews.



* Prepares pollution reports by summarizing, interpreting, and displaying information and trends.



* Recommends corrections and alleviations by assessing pollution problems; identifying and evaluating pollution control approaches; establishing standards.



* Completes research projects by establishing project objectives; designing and developing mathematical, statistical, and physical science models; determining data collection methods; directing the collection of data; synthesizing data; interpreting results.



* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.



* Maintains pollution control data base by developing information requirements; designing an information system; writing computer programs; and entering and backing up data.



* Represents the organization by preparing a strategy; assembling data; presenting information at hearings.



* Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.



* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
