ESTIMATOR

ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION SERVICES ? Denton, TX

 

 

SUMMARY

The Senior Estimator plans, directs, and coordinates bid and proposal activities of designated projects (remediation, emergency response, construction).  The Senior Estimator is expected to perform at a high level and take ownership of assigned tasks, often without specific guidance other than the specific goals and objectives of the organization, and demonstrate leadership through technical expertise, flexibility, and competency with not only all company functions and procedures but also industry-specific means and methods. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

-Attend pre-bid walkthroughs

-Prepare quantity take-offs

-Break down projects into functional stages and sequencing for purposes of preparing estimates

-Write technical proposals

-Prepare bid analysis and review

-Prepare job cost analysis on completed projects

-Resource subcontractors, materials, consumables, and equipment.

 

At times, the employee may be required to actively manage projects, including the following:

 

-Assigns and monitors all work being performed by Company personnel and subcontractors on projects.

-Assists Director of Technical Services, Senior Division Managers, and other individuals with preparation of bids and proposals.

-Assists in procurement of labor, equipment, materials and subcontractors for projects.

-Oversees and is responsible for accounting and other administrative functions on a project level.

-Ensures that equipment is maintained to company standards.

-Maintains communications with Mechanical Department regarding equipment used on project.

-Assists with recruiting and training employees for projects.

-Updates Customer Service and others about projects in a timely manner. 

-Assists with expanding and increasing sales.

-Requires extensive contact with customers, prospective customers, and field operations staff and regular contact with general office staff and outside professional organizations.

-Reviews and/or develops project proposals and/or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.

-Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.

-Complete all assigned tasks.

-Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.

-Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies, schedules, or plans as required.

-Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.

-Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.

-Coordinates project activities with activities of governmental or regulatory agencies.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; five years or more related experience in the environmental industry- three of which must be of project manager or estimator status or equivalent. Must be thoroughly versed regarding 29 CFR (OSHA) and 40 CFR (EPA).  Must be thoroughly comfortable with estimating earth materials activities, environmental remediation activities, and civil, mechanical, and electrical systems as they relate to environmental remediation and construction.  Must be thoroughly versed in scheduling and estimating software.
