Staff Environmental Engineer



GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs engineering work in a specific environmental functional area or areas; works under general supervision; performs additional duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide operational and engineering support for the Site Characterization and Analysis Penetrometer System (SCAPS). Operate and maintain cone penetrometer test equipment, including CPT, MIP, and LIF probes. Provide environmental consulting services to Navy and Marine Corps clients on projects addressing a range of soil and groundwater contamination issues. Project work includes sites governed by CERCLA, RCRA, and UST regulations, and involves conducting environmental site assessments, project planning and implementation, preparation of technical reports and planning documents such as Work Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plans, Site Investigation Reports, UST Corrective Action Plans, Groundwater Monitoring Reports, and other documents.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Candidate to have 8 to 10 years professional experience in CPT operation and/or environmental science. Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred in geology, geography, environmental science, engineering, or related. Class B Commercial Drivers License required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience conducting hazardous waste site characterization required, preferably using CPT/SCAPS. CERCLA and RCRA experience required, along with a working knowledge of environmental laws and regulations. Proficiency in MS Office software required. Some heavy lifting required. Mechanical aptitude required. Travel required.
