MWH Global is seeking a Senior Hydrology and Hydraulics Engineer with a strong background and interest in surface water hydrology, hydraulic analysis, and design of conveyance and storage systems to be based in our Tempe or Globe, Arizona office.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide water resources support for preliminary and final design of mine reclamation systems and preparation of construction contracts. Water resources services will include developing and managing hydrology investigation programs, review of or preparation of hydrological baseline reports, conveyance, storage, and erosion structures design, preparation of hydrological design reports, plans and specifications, and quality assurance reviews of related hydrological designs and construction plans, and support of construction.
2. Perform Project Manager duties for mid to large-sized projects including: preparing and negotiating contracts and subcontracts, developing preliminary budgets, determining project scope, establishing schedules and assigning project staff, processing appropriate paperwork, approving invoices, and other duties as required to ensure quality and profitability.
3. Prepare or oversee preparation of proposals, make presentations, establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with current and prospective clients.
4. Organize, draft and coordinate production of assigned sections of various reports to ensure technical consistency and inclusion of appropriate documentation.
5. Inspect construction for compliance with specifications; review and approve drawings; conduct field inspections; review progress versus schedule; develop change orders; approve contractor invoices; approve completed work for client.
6. Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
The successful candidate will have a BSCE (MSCE preferred) and 10-15+ years related experience in surface water modeling, flood studies, open channel hydraulics and design, culvert hydraulics, reservoir routing, and specification of erosion protection works. The position requires Arizona PE licensure or the ability to acquire it within 2 months of hire date.
This position will require designing and managing a variety of water resources projects.
Work products will include hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, design of conveyance and storage facilities, and participation in site civil design, report preparation, and field investigation.
The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills (HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and AutoCAD).
The position also requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, report presentations to the client, and be able to work with engineering staff at all levels.
