Fire Department Captain (Full Time/ Unaccompanied)

 

Responsibilities: Reports to the assistant fire chief and as the initial senior fire officer during emergency incidents, assumes the authority and responsibilities of the fire chief to deploy resources and assets to protect and preserve lives, property, systems, and the environment from fires and mitigate other emergencies. Respond to all emergencies as required and assumes command until relieved by a senior fire officer. Under direction of assistant fire chiefs, captains effect the policies, rules, regulations, practices and procedures of the Fire & Emergency Services organization. Organize daily work and training schedules and is responsible for the cleanliness and operating condition of all department facilities, apparatus, and equipment assigned.

Accountable for conduct and discipline of personnel assigned to their command and distribute work in and about the station on a fair and equitable basis. Conduct drills, inspections, equipment testing, and training as directed by the assistant chief or fire chief.

When directed by the fire chief, will assume the responsibilities of assistant fire chief. Responsible for completion of emergency response reports and accurately maintain all F&ES log books and records and execute other duties assigned. Perform other duties as required.

 

Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent plus DOD Minimum Standards - Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, Hazmat Incident Commander, and Airport Firefighter. Must have eight years experience in fire service that includes 3 years in structural and 3 years in ARFF.

Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation/criminal background check and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information as required for the position offered.

 

You and authorized dependents, if any, traveling to Kwajalein are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to departure.
