The Environmental and Infrastructure Business Unit currently has an opening for a Marine Scientist. SAIC's Marine and Environmental Sciences Division located in Bothell, WA is looking for a mid-level marine scientist to join our growing Pacific Northwest staff. The successful candidate will manage projects supporting various marine and aquatic investigations. Field work includes fish and benthic community sampling in support of NEPA, SEPA, and ESA compliance, sediment sampling in support of dredging, disposal site monitoring, and contaminated site investigations, water quality sampling, and hydrographic surveying. Field work is performed mainly in the Pacific Northwest, with some opportunities in California and the east coast. Office support includes data processing/analysis and technical report writing, and work plan preparation.

Education: B.S. in marine biology, oceanography, environmental science, or related field.

Required Skills: Five plus years experience in one or more of the above technical areas. Physical ability to work in the field including sampling and survey work aboard boats and survey vessels in fresh and marine waters, including the open ocean. Good quantitative skills and written/oral communication skills. Experience in preparing technical documents and reports. Computer efficiency in the MS Windows desktop environment. Ability to work as part of a team.

Desired Skills: Previous experience using navigation and survey equipment (DGPS, CTD, bathymetry, side scan) and sediment and fish sampling equipment (grab and core samplers, beach and purse seines). Experience and capability in preparing NEPA, SEPA, and ESA documentation. 40 hr OSHA HAZWOPER training.
