Description Description: A member of the Ernst & Young Technology Support Services (TSS) leadership team, the Area Director of TSS assumes ultimate responsibility for the technology support operations of a geographic service area.

This professional directs managers and staff who provide technical support and advisory services associated with the technology products and services used by Ernst & Young employees. At an area level, this individual oversees end-user support, data and voice network support, internal IT training, and relationship management with key personnel at E&Y.

This area consists of Ernst & Young office and client locations in the western part of the U.S.

Essential Functions of the Job:
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key decision makers, peers, and key internal customers to understand their business objectives and practices, and to ensure effective coordination in delivery of technology services.

Meet with partners, directors and other senior technology leaders within Ernst &Youngs national technology organization to provide IT advice, project management services, and/or general technology guidance.

Work with the IT management team to facilitate the delivery of sound business solutions to technical matters in order to increase overall productivity of Ernst & Young employees.

Anticipate technology issues. Oversee the design, development and facilitation of cost-effective technology business solutions.

Negotiate and work with firm personnel to set expectations regarding deliverables, and how the technology approach matches business needs.

Deliver service in a timely manner with minimal disruption.

Keep stakeholders updated on projects and related activities.

Ensure that appropriate tools, techniques, and standards are used and followed.

Work with other TSS management team members to establish and achieve TSS goals.

Participate in committees and cross-functional project teams, aligning with the business units in the area.

Work in concert with E&Y employees and other IT departments to meet organizational goals and objectives.

Design and implement area initiatives to build or improve support processes and working relationships in the area.

Assure compliance to organizational objectives around asset management, end-user call management, financial management, standardized processes, connectivity processes, and project management services.

Recommend and manage area IT budgets and expenditures.

Stay current with new and updated technologies to understand their impact on firm and organizational direction.

Participate in appropriate teams and forums, promoting knowledge sharing and the exchange of ideas.

Identify improvement opportunities for delivering IT services by anticipating problems and issues, providing suggestions and alternatives.

Ensure that the area TSS team understands end user needs and expectations.

Oversee the professional development and training of staff members to build their skills, working to maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in their area of responsibility.

Be responsible for the selection and performance management of area IT staff members.

Qualifications

-An advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience

- Approximately 10-12 years of related experience

- Working knowledge of Microsoft products, services and operating environments, IT data and telecomm networks, Lotus Notes, and Internet browsing tools
- Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and rapid change
- Outstanding management, interpersonal, mentoring, communication, presentation, organizational, facilitation, and financial skills
- The ability to effectively work and team with personnel at all levels of the firm
