Blood Donor Center Manager

Reporting to the Manager of Lab Programs and Compliance, the Blood Donor Center Manager plans, evaluates and coordinates the activities and services of the Blood Donor Center. Oversees reporting of donor center activities for regulatory and organizational purposes; actively participates in donor outreach and legislative activities; and integrates donor research and clinical functions into hospital operation. Assumes responsibility for program planning, product line development and external marketing and/or community relations in support of program or product line(s), and will operationalize a continuous performance improvement process to ensure unit performs at optimum efficiency levels. Acts primarily in a non patient-care role providing administration and clinical guidance of daily operations including supervision of staff, goal accomplishment and unit level budget preparation and accountability. Works collaboratively with other hospital services, medical staff, and administration to ensure that optimal quality patient care is consistently delivered. Works closely with the medical director to coordinate care, implement change and monitor operations of the service areas assigned. Specific duties include identification and resolution of issues, process improvement, customer services, development of policies and procedures and staff competencies. Also serves as a role model who demonstrates expert professional nursing practice, customer service, and leadership ability. Acts as an active participant on nursing and Medical Center committees.

Current CA RN license. Demonstrated experience in a blood donor center. Familiarity with all aspects of blood donation regulations and procedures. Current BLS certification. Knowledge of Title 22 and hospital JCAHO requirements. Strong oral and written communication skills with an ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and visitors. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System. Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
