Job Title: Chief Financial Officer -- Retail Apparel

Reports to:  Chairman/CEO

Headquarters location:  Southeast US

Company: High growth, 200 store, profitable apparel retail chain

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations.  Provides senior leadership and coordination to the administrative, business planning, treasury, accounting and budgeting functions, including preparation of current financial reports as well as summaries and forecasts for future business growth and general economic outlook.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1. Oversees preparation by Controller and staff of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies, including SEC filings and SOX implementation.

 

2. Oversees accounting departments, budget preparation, and audit functions.  Meets regularly with management team to keep informed and to offer direction.

 

3. Manages Treasury function to include investment of funds and interface with investors, banks and financial community.

 

4. Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales, profits and expenses against actual results, and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.

 

5. Analyzes company operations to identify profit improvement opportunities.

 

6. Studies long-range economic trends and analyzes company prospects for future growth in overall sales and market share, opportunities for acquisition or expansion into new product areas.  Estimates requirements for capital and real estate to meet growth projections.

 

7. Represents the company externally to media, government agencies, and the general public.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1. CPA; Master?s degree in business administration, accounting or finance preferred.

2. 8 ? 10 years experience at Controller level or above in retail, preferably apparel.

3. Public company experience including IPO, SEC filings and SOX implementation.

4. Public accounting/auditing experience.

5. Knowledge of database and accounting computer systems to supply the most accurate and timely financial information.
