Chief Operating Officer - Parish Administrator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:  This position is responsible for the broad coordination of all operations, the oversight of finance, budget and strategic management, in addition to providing support to the Rector and Vestry in carrying out the governance of St James Episcopal Church.  Will be responsible for the Physical, Fiscal and Human issues and development of the church.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

?  Experience working in a non-profit environment helpful but not required. 

?Special knowledge of working with volunteers, overseeing the coordination of major capital projects and working with the community.

?  Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple departments including facility management and overseeing multiple projects.

?Experienced in hiring, training, guiding and supporting the daily work of office staff and operational staff including chairing meetings, monitoring work, delegating work, and staff development.

?  Experienced in coordinating the multiple departments and committees and acting as liaison between these groups and the Vestry and the Rector.

?Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate well with all departments and committees, Rector, Vestry,and Church members.

?Strong strategic planning experience.

?Strong financial background with experience and knowledge in accounting, budget preparation, endowment management, and general fiscal management of the church.

?  Knowledgeable and experienced in contract review, vendor negotiations, and purchasing.

?  Computer literate with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and the ability to learn software quickly.

Interpersonal and Self-Management Skills:

 

? Must be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize, plan and manage multiple tasks.

?  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experienced in working with highly confidential matters, and good interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a diverse group of volunteers, co-workers, staff, and parishioners.

?  Be highly organized with excellent record keeping skills and the ability to manage others to maintain the same.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

?  Degree in Finance, Business Management, or other related field preferred.

?  8+ years experienced in an Executive level management/leadership role in a related position.
