Performs work of skillfully preparing, compounding, seasoning, and cooking food including?final preparation for?serving to UA's passengers, other airlines operators, customers,?and employees.? Reads and interprets company manuals, state and? federal regulations, and?other reference materials containing procedures and standards for food preparation,?sanitation, health, and safety? requirements.? Performs basic mathematics in calculating???
weights and measures, portion controls, and other related recipe specifications?or use of?senses (smell, taste) necessary for food preparation.? Operates and uses a variety of?utensils and food processing equipment? both manual and automatic, including mixers,?ovens, grills, broilers, choppers, and slicers.? Lifts and carries heavy containers of? food? products to and from work tables for their preparation and placement into cooking?units from squatting, kneeling, bending, and stretching? positions.? Pushes and pulls?carts and flat trucks to move and place prepared food into buffets and modules.? Will be?exposed to sudden? temperature changes in moving in and out of freezers and working near?equipment which generate high temperatures.? Works in noisy,? congested areas around?moving equipment.? Will typically stand and walk for an entire shift.? May be required to??
work shifts, rotating days? off, holidays, overtime, and have delayed meal periods.? Works?as a team and may be required to lead and direct Food Services? employees of a lower?classification assigned to him or her.?



Education: ?Tenth grade completion plus some formal?education in the culinary field and demonstration of culinary skills.?

Experience:? One?year of experience as a cook, sous chef, or similar position working in a restaurant or?hotel, which requires the skilled? preparation of food items.
