Director, Quality Assurance/Maintenance

Ryder’s Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) business segment combines several capabilities into a comprehensive package that provides one-stop outsourcing of the acquisition, maintenance, management and disposal of vehicles.  Ryder?s commercial rental service offers customers a method to expand their fleets in order to address specific or short-term capacity needs.

 

Ryder is seeking a Director, Quality Assurance/Maintenance.  This leadership position directs system-wide quality assurance audit programs for technical services, facilities, vehicles, and component programs.  Specifically this position will:

? Direct the development and implementation of Ryder?s quality assurance programs and policies, recommending revisions where necessary

? Direct the quality organization. 

? Ensure maintenance of the continuous audit programs which assure branch operations activities are conducted in accordance with company regulations and applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations

? Establish and direct administration of the supplier control system and monitoring of outside repair vendors, new vehicle manufacturers, fuel suppliers, and storage facilities

? Direct the internal evaluation program, certification of branch operations, maintenance and servicing facilities, and continuous audits of the functional systems and related procedures in maintenance, technical services, and staff support organizations

? Maintain liaison with the DOT and other regulatory agencies of maintenance related matters

? Represent the company at industry meetings or on industry committees related to quality assurance issues

? Direct the development and implementation of communications, plans, and programs to support corporate objectives

? Consult with and influence senior management at various levels in and across a wide variety of functions

? Incorporate quality concepts and human factor techniques in the design of organizational operations. 

? Design experiments (analysis of variance techniques) 

? Perform quality cost analysis 

Perform reliability and safety systems reviews

 

Education/Experience/Skills/Required Qualifications:

? Bachelor?s degree in Quality Assurance, Operations Management or related discipline.  Master Degree preferred

? Executive presentation skills

? 10+ years QA or related experience, transportation industry preferred

? Experience working collaboratively with senior level management

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills

? Strong analytical, research, and forecasting skills. 

? Excellent organization, prioritization and planning skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

? Ability to work cross functionally in order to achieve desired results

? Experience working with DOT, government regulatory agencies

? Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred

? American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification preferred

Six Sigma Black / Green Belt certified or trained preferred, and knowledge of lean manufacturing
