Director of Materials Management

To direct and manage the materials management functions at hospitals to ensure that efficient, cost effective and focused materials services operations are achieved on a consistent basis.  The overall objective of the position is to provide cost saving and avoidance for hospitals, oversee onsite materials and equipment logistics, and manage the relationship with the central Distribution Center.

 

 

JOB PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

 

I.  Essential Functions:

A. Human Resources Management

  B:  Financial Administration:

1.  Recommend and document standardization opportunities and cost containment processes to department managers.

2.  Coordinate the negotiating and ordering of capital equipment.

3.  Coordinate the negotiation of Medical Center contracts for supplies and services.

4.  Manage the Lawson materials information system to ensure accurate reporting, expenses accountability and inventory control.

5.  Supervise the annual inventory process.

6.  Prepare annual operating and capital budgets.

 

C:  Critical and Analytical Thinking:

1.  Responsible for ensuring criteria is being met for the acquisition of products and services to maintain quality patient care.

 

D: Leadership and Professional Accountability:

1.  Actively participate in continuing education programs and involvement in professional organizations.

2.  Provide communication too all segments of the medical center relating to product/equipment changes, recalls, and materials issues. 

3.  Oversees the value analysis process.

4.  Oversees and enforces the hospital vendor visitation policy.

5.  Ensure that Materials Management control systems are in compliance with all other regulatory agencies.

6.  Participates in the Executive Steering Committee for Value Analysis.



 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

?  College degree required; preferable in Health Care Administration, Finance, Management or Business Administration.

?  Masters Degree in Business Administration preferred.

?  Minimum of 7 years experience in Materials Management, and 12 years of work experience.

?  Excellent organizational, management and planning skills.

?  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

?  Ability to plan and implement programs across affiliates.

?  Demonstrates advanced level problem solving skills and decision-making abilities.
