Director of Pension Operations

Major Midtown Union Health Plan seeks to add a talented and experienced professional who can oversee pension operations.  This position is accountable for ensuring all aspects of the Pension Fund administration are efficient, effective and controlled for three jointly administered pension plans.  The job is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the pension funds including implementing and modifying workflow, procedures processes, and systems.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

?  Establish and maintain effective and credible working relations with all levels of the organization

 

?  Ability to identify process issues and develop solutions

 

?  Talent for identifying, documenting and writing procedures

 

?  Responsible for understanding each of the pension areas and leading these areas to meet established goals

 

?  Work effectively with the Legal Department, Legal Operations, and Actuarial firms regarding issues related to the three Funds, DOL/ERISA regulations and individual participant issues

 

?  Work effectively with both internal & external auditors, Finance, Retiree Health Division, Eligibility, and Outreach Departments

 

?  Knowledge of QDROs and their implementation

 

?  Prepare written responses to members and attorneys correspondence

 

?  Prepare Appeal write-ups for presentation to Retirement Committee

 

 

Qualifications

 

?  Minimum of 10 years increasingly responsible experience in Pension administration

?  5 years experience in Taft Hartley Fund administration

?  Bachelor?s Degree and 3 years project management experience

?  3 years working with IT on system development or enhancements.  Strong Technology background with the knowledge to make recommendations on a new system design or enhancements to current systems.

?  Comprehensive knowledge of ERISA and DOL regulations. 

?  Knowledge of Plan design and Plan interpretation. 

?  Strong oral and written communication skills.  Capability to work with all levels of the organization.

?  Great leadership skills and ability to motivate and set goals for the Pension Fund.
