Dispatch Supervisor

Summary

 

Dispatch company and owner/operators on runs created by AWG as well as freight runs created by the Backhaul/Freight Manager.

 

Duties and Responsiblities

 

First point of contact for all driver and customer calls including: backhaul information, routing, store hours, addresses, phone numbers, delivery times, driver locations and any other concerns of drivers, stores or AWG personal.


Prepare a list of available drivers for the night's runs bearing in mind DOT regulations and customer needs.


Continuously monitor Total Mail to ensure text messages are being attended to and drivers are following proper procedures.


Check in drivers as they arrive from their runs ensuring that all paperwork is complete and correct.  Determine available starting times for the next dispatch.


Monitor TMS (Transportation Management System) for daily moves. When loads are received, immediately begin assigning moves to drivers in TMS always being aware of DOT regulations.


Update TMS as changes in equipment, drivers, or routes occur.


Prepare paperwork for dispatch when loads become available.


Settle loads in TMS including all stop and expense pay.  Provide reasons for failure to deliver within designated window.


Maintain dispatch log showing all irregularities that occur during shift.

 

 



Education/Experience

 

Bachelors degree in a related field is required.  Previous experience in dedicated fleet, LTL or TL dispatch is required.

 

Skills

 

Basic computer skill including but not limited to MS Word and Excel.  Understanding of transportation operating systems and how they relate.  Must be able to effectively communicate with service and management personal from all operational levels.  Abilitiy to work extended hours as required.  Must have thorough knowledge of all DOT regulations effecting this operation.
