Manufacturing/ Operations Manager

JOB OVERVIEW:

Responsible for managing the development, manufacture, testing, overhaul and quality control of a group of major products or a single product line of significant scope. Performs administrative functions with respect to established policies, procedures and methods, recommending changes to improve product quality, reduce costs, and improve product flow times.

 

Principal Accountabilities: Participates in the development of the objectives and business plans of the business unit and share responsibility for the general management of the business to achieve the targets set by the Division.Manages the manufacturing organization?s budget in support of the company?s goals and objectives.Cooperates in the establishment of organizational arrangements, human resource policies and management development plans that will create a high quality product team and ensure harmonious workplace relations to enable the Site to meet its current and future objectives.Complies with government regulations and the company?s Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action policies.Regularly assesses and provides feedback regarding performance to employees.Maintains a safe workplacePlans, directs, monitors and controls all manufacturing activities to efficiently meet all delivery schedules within assigned cost targets.Defines and recommends product line objectives.  Develops specific short and long range plans and programs together with supporting budget requests based on customer requirements.  Responsible for cost control, staffing and facility requirement forecastsReviews competitive posture of unit with in-house and /or outside suppliers of similar products and recommends strategies to be the lowest cost, highest quality provider of products or services.Insures prompt receipt of needed materials and supplies and on-time delivery of finished products or services to customers.Responsible for directing the activities of all manufacturing supervisors assigned, technicians and collective bargaining unit personnel.  Ensures that performance criteria for individuals is established and understood. Insures thorough monitoring of individual assignments and that successful cross training is accomplished.  Develops the leadership of the unit through mentoring, formal and informal training programs.Ensures appropriate communications and interaction with technical support and engineering groups in order that technical issues are addressed in a timely and complete manner

 

Minimum Requirements:

1.  BS in Engineering, Industrial Management or related field.

2.  A minimum of 10 years of experience in leadership positions in the manufacture of complex structures.  Prior experience preferred in Machining.

3.  Candidates with extensive operations management experience in non-aerospace manufacturing environments will be considered.

4.  Working knowledge of related quality assurance standards (e.g. ISO 9001, AS9100, Nadcap) required.

5.  Prior experience must be demonstrated in utilizing a participative style of management. Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills are required to include the ability to effectively interact and persuade Management, Staff, Hourly Union Employees and Customers.

6. Excellent personal computer skills required including Excel, Word, Access and Power Point
