JOB DESCRIPTION – DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




 


Global Product Managers are responsible for implementing the company's product and services strategy. The Product Manager is responsible for product strategy launching the product, setting priorities on product development, product design, product enhancements overall product implementation and is active in promotional, sales and training activities.  Working with the Business Managers & Sales teams, the Product Manager creates and manages product pricing and profitability.


 


The successful candidate will require a strong commercial focus and will be responsible for defining Lipper’s benchmarking strategy and executing the business plan.  Key responsibilities will include building a commercial framework for Lipper’s performance indices, the delivery and growth Lipper’s Active Index product range, and the definition and execution of Lipper’s Investable Index strategy.   


 


Other key responsibilities include:


 


·  Ability to build and articulate a product vision using strong written, verbal, and presentation skills


·  Ability to work with and influence third-party re-distributor’s and partners  


·  Recommends the nature and scope of assigned products by appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes


·  Identifies key product and industry solution gaps that can be addressed by product development activities


·  Gains product market share by working with sales managers and research in order to develop product sales strategies


·  Provides data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives


·  Assesses market competition by comparing our products to the competitors’ products by working closely with research and sales


·  Manages new product definitions, planning and launch activities, including all product life cycle processes, and helps conduct return-on-investment analyses, etc.


·  Ability to communicate directly with clients, identify their needs and capture requirements.


·  Implements and supports the global pricing and discount model for assigned products, ensuring that they adhere to the established guidelines set by Business Management


·  Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with promotions and sales


·  Ensure that assigned products adequately supports sales, production, and client services by providing necessary product training to the various sale and support groups


· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional or industry groups or conferences


· Maintains Lipper’s products on the Reuters Products A-Z site, in accordance with the established update and documentation procedures


· Adheres to the defined Lipper project process, and supporting process models


 


 


 


 









JOB SPECIFICATIONS – REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE




 


·  Previous experience required:


o In-depth knowledge of indexation


o 1 to 3 years in financial Product Management or Research role


o Refined knowledge of mutual fund and securities industries


o Product Management, commercial policy, marketing, sales experience


·  Degree level, with emphasis on business management –or– equivalent  experience


·  Product Management or Project Management certification an advantage


·  Strong attention to detail


·  Exceptional organisational skills


·  Global funds industry and financial market knowledge


·  General knowledge of regulatory structure and broad laws 


·  Ability to manage and organise content


·  Knowledge of commercial policy


·  General marketing and sales skills


·  Proven track record for delivering multiple projects/tasks on-time and to specification


·  Ability to productively work within fast-moving environment


·  Strong computer skills and aptitude (MS Office Tools)


·  Strong analytical skills and strategic analysis abilities


·  Project planning skills


·  The ability to work alone without specific direction and to take the initiative in searching out and using information – when needed
