Snelling Professional Services has teamed up with a New Global Supply Chain and Procurement Organization in Dallas, Texas in search of a Senior Procurement Project Leader for Direct Materials.  This position is responsible for the development and execution of strategies and projects to achieve specific aggregation and LCC objectives. 

 

Position Description:

 

The Sr. Procurement Project Leader for Direct Material will be responsible to deliver competitive advantage utilizing an advanced knowledge of industry best practices and technology trends within the assigned commodity/spend categories. Overall responsibility for setting strategic direction with supporting goals, plans and metrics which will lead to significant impact on EBITDA and internal customer satisfaction.

 

The position may evolve into the senior management role responsible for leadership of a team responsible for the development of global sourcing strategies for key commodities and spend categories that align with business objectives and growth strategies. 



 

Specific Knowledge/Skills:

 

High degree of technical knowledge relative to Supply Base Management practices and methodologies in a multi-plant global environment

 

Manage the development, implementation, and alignment of global or regional sourcing strategies for key commodities and spend categories to achieve broad business objectives

Knowledge of product/markets and processes relating to machining, assembly, and other key commodity manufacturing processes.

 

Expertise with multiple commodities and spend categories such as sheet metal fabrication, metal stampings, injection molding, electromechanical assemblies, machining and/or raw materials (e.g. steel aluminum, resins)


Manage internal business relationships and gain a comprehensive understanding of business requirements.

Identify and organize team resources responsible for implementing spend category / commodity strategies

Demonstrated project management skills. Ability to lead multiple small, medium and large projects simultaneously through all phases of the project lifecycle, including detailed project schedules, tasks lists and status change reporting. 

 

Direct the development and negotiation of complex agreements with suppliers

 

Proven track record in developing and implementing sourcing strategies (suppliers, processes) that meet business objectives

 

Sound engineering and technical knowledge to be able to influence and drive design changes across companies globally a plus

 

Basic understanding of financial/accounting analysis including ability to develop cost-benefit analysis for various scenarios


Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to produce and deliver presentations to a wide range of audiences.

Business Experience / Educational Background:

Minimum 7-10 years progressively responsible experience in operations and/or supply base management in a manufacturing environment.

Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Management (MBA+)

Ability to Speak Mandarin - Chinese a plus
