VP Finance & Controller

VP Finance & Controller position:

POSITION PURPOSE: 

 

This position is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of all organization fund-raising activities.

 

NATURE AND SCOPE:     

 

This position reports to the Vice President, Marketing and Communications. Washoe Health System is a regional health care facility serving Northern Nevada and Northeastern California. This position is responsible for ensuring that plans are developed and implemented to attract major and planned gifts and broad-based annual giving.  The incumbent will develop tax strategies for donors, oversee gift recording, accounting and recognition, and will work with director and foundation staff to develop relationships within the community that lend themselves to furthering philanthropic support for Washoe Medical Center. It is expected that the VP will champion a major capital campaign for a Women?s & Children?s hospital.

 

The incumbent will manage budgets, support and lead fundraising projects, specifically in the areas of major giving, capital campaigns, corporate and foundation grants, and event planning and execution in order to drive growth and secure funding sources.

 

It is common to encounter potential hazards in the healthcare environment. Some of these hazards could include, but are not limited to: Radiation, Toxic Chemicals, Biological Hazards, Heat, Noise, Dust and Stress. Washoe Health Systems has a Safety Management Program in place addressing these issues.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: Bachelor?s degree required with a Masters preferred in a field related to institutional advancement, such as business, social science, political science, law or communications/advertising. Experience in a related position may be substituted for a degree.

 

Experience: Seven to ten years experience working directly with fundraising in a leadership role required.  Preference will be given to those candidates with healthcare fundraising experience, although knowledge of the local philanthropy and social business community is highly valued.
