VP of Distribution Sales

Summary of Position Requirements: 

Establish sales policy, direction, and organization, with profit and loss responsibility for distribution sales, product lines, marketing, and branch sales offices.  Direct, manage, and coordinate regional managers and distribution facilities. Responsibilities could be characterized as a combination of a senior product manager and national sales manager with marketing responsibilities added. Sales activities can be generally characterized as 40% hunting and 60% farming.

This position is responsible for approximately 100 individuals at 14 locations mostly east of the Mississippi. Consequently, this position will include a fair amount of travel. The candidate may not need to relocate due to the travel requirements and the use of communications technology to access people, data and information electronically. Compensation is the stated base salary range plus an annual performance based incentive. This position reports to the President located at the corporate headquarters in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Reporting to this position are Regional Sales Managers, Product Managers, and Branch Managers.

 Broadly Described Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

1.  Develop the annual business plans for distribution sales regions and branches.

2.  Establish sales policy, organizational direction, and accountability for sales and financial objectives for distribution sales.

3.  Establish pricing which supports profit and volume objectives.

4.  Collaborate with management to determine and implement strategic direction for sales, asset utilization, logistics, and operations.

5.  Direct and oversee the region sales program by supervising the regional sales managers, implementing marketing plans and programs, reviewing sales results,

6.  Select, train, and develop distribution sales and management personnel.

7.  Deliver sales presentations to key or assigned clients.

8. Other duties, objectives and responsibilities may be assigned as required.General Position Qualifications: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be highly organized and possess superior time management skills. The individual must also be able to communicate, coach, facilitate and delegate within a team of other highly skilled professionals. Experience in sales and distribution of industrial plastics and plastic products is highly desirable. A minimum of a bachelor?s degree in a business related program and ten years related sales and distribution experience or a combination of education and experience is required.  Strong communications, organization, sales ability, problem solving, planning, listening, and human relation skills are essential. No micro-management. Regularly Utilized Essential Position Skills: 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from executive management, customers, and employees.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
