Accountant

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is seeking an Accountant to work within its Accounting Department. The Accountant position works under the supervision of the General Ledger/Cash Disbursement Accounting Supervisor. 

 

The position will have responsibilities assisting in the posting of G/L journal entries, reconcile and monitor of payments to the Museum?s travel agencies, assist in the matching and approving for payment of Shop merchandise invoices, assist in the bimonthly re class of payroll liabilities, reconcile various donor programs, assume full responsibility for the Fixed Asset module, be trained and prepared to provide occasional back-up A/P cycle support if needed, assist (in a back-up capacity) with the daily counting, reconciliation, deposit and posting of cash receipts from Box Office activities and act as custodian over the Box Office change fund. The position also will involve occasionally communicating with banks regarding inquiries, communicating with vendors regarding problems and assisting in the processing of miscellaneous credit card receipts and refunds. One of the position?s other key functions is assisting the Controller with assigned tasks and projects when needed.

 

The candidate must have a Bachelor?s Degree with a preference in Accounting and have between two to five years of related accounting experience. Experience particularly in the areas of accounts payable and journal entry posting is preferred. Other combinations of education and proven work related accounting experience might also be considered. The desired candidate would have some exposure and experience with Oracle or another equally robust financial software application.  Candidates with non-profit experience & interest will be given preference.

 

The candidate must possess a strong computer based aptitude, able to think and perform analytically, be well organized and able to work on more than one task at a time, extremely detail oriented and willing to teach and help others, able to work effectively both under direct supervision as well as alone, pro active and self motivated, able to prioritize work loads when required, able to work as a team member under deadlines, possess solid business communication (verbal/written) skills, and be customer focused.
