Major Duties and Functions Include:
Engages in the production and analysis of Long Term Care reserves utilizing the MG-Triton Health Valuation System and interacting with our IT support team when necessary in producing monthly LTC reserves. All reserves are calculated on STAT, GAAP and on a FPR basis (pending the full transition to Triton, alternate processes are being used that include the use of Visual Basic, Access Databases, Sequel queries and Excel).
Sends reserves to the Group Reserves Database (GRDB) and to the Reserve Repository. -Reconciles the reserves to the ledger (PeopleSoft) using the Financial Analysis and Reporting Online (FARO) application.
Analyzes Income Statement affects due to Reserve fluctuations
Completes ad-hoc State Reserve Filing Requirements
Documents processes and transactions. Interfaces with internal and external auditors and helps ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Works in conjunction with the financial reporting area on unit cost studies needed for pricingRequired Competencies - Participates in the product analysis, providing team support on a monthly basis to the Group Insurance Analysis Unit in order to assess the products financial results, the product's competitive pricing, and assist in enhancing the product's profitability. What You Need to Succeed:


Requires extensive working knowledge of Excel, Access and preferred knowledge of SQL as well as actuarial and mathematical principles and techniques, group insurance products, financial data analysis and reporting. Knowledge of the MG-Triton Health Valuation System is preferred.
Since contacts are with various levels of company personnel including frequent interaction with Group Insurance Controllers and Business Units within MetLife, ability to work as a team in accomplishing the unit-s and department-s objectives is a must.
Operates within generally accepted and well-defined organizational procedures, practices and functional precedents. Exercises initiative. Typically, supervisory review of progress and technical direction is provided
