Area General Manager, Finance and Accounting - Based in Bangalore, India
Manages activities of two or more sections or departments, possibly through subordinate and managers.
Exercise full supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing.
Generally manages more senior level exempt specialists and/or subordinate supervisors/managers. Developing the capabilities of senior level direct reports which are a critical responsibility for this level.
In some instances this manager may be responsible for managing staff function and may not have subordinate managers.
Establishes operational objectives and work plans.
Delegates assignments to subordinate supervisors/managers.
Senior management reviews objectives to determine success of operation, schedules and budgets.
Typically manages a work group with responsibility for multiple significant project outcomes.
Involved in developing, modifying and executing policies that affect immediate operation(s) and may also have a company-wide effect.
Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Takes ownership for developing operational plans and activities for product, project, or function.
Works with senior level management to ensure plans are integrated with broader corporate and/or functional strategies, budgets, schedules and plans
Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives, as well as an understanding of company "politics."
Works closely with U.S. counterparts and Managers in resolution of tasks as well as implementation of new projects, businesses and work-load.
Establishes goals, objectives, and priorities for area of responsibility.
Frequently participates in the establishment of business unit functional strategies and/or resolution of critical functional issues.
Responsible for ensuring overall budgets, schedules, and performance standards are attained.
Participates in more critical day-to-day operational issues and the resolution of complex issues.
Regularly interacts with management, senior management and executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers for all First American Companies.
Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship.
Seen as a key leader within a functional organization.
Participates with peer managers in developing function-wide strategic direction.
Influences internal leadership on decisions relating to critical priorities and schedules.
Has regular contact with senior level management inside and outside the company; contact involvement may include but not limited to clarification or modification of projects, plans, operational decision, and/or scheduling requirements.
Qualifications
10 years experience of demonstrated management skills in finance and accounting, handling multiple cross functional teams
MBA in Finance
ICWAI Degreed in Accounting and finance
Demonstrated successful track record of design, development, and completion of critical, complex projects in area of functional expertise.
Demonstrated success of establishing, managing, and maintaining effective working relationships at the senior management level, internal and external to an organization.
Familiar with and understand US and India GAAP
Self starter, self-motivated, good problem solving and analytical skills
Be able to work efficiently and effectively under pressure while changing and realigning priorities
Minimum 5-7 years work experience in general accounting or public accounting, with at least 2 years in related management position
Transition/migration implementation experience in Accounting and Financial functions
