Associate Director - Real Estate Capital Markets

Summary of Responsibilities

 

This position is responsible for a range of functions specific to MetLife's commercial real estate credit line portfolio.

 

Source, analyze, underwrite, negotiate and close credit lines. Oversee the administration of credit lines. The credit lines include warehouse lines of credit, acquisition lines of credit and subscription lines of credit. Grow the portfolio of commitments, manage collateral fundings/payoffs, avoid defaults and collect returns.

 

Principal Responsibilities

 

- Develop and maintain relationships with key external capital users (banks, private equity funds, REITS and other institutions) to develop investment opportunities within established investment policy guidelines.

-Originate, underwrite, negotiate, perform due diligence effort, makes internal recommendation and close prospective new credit line transactions. Accountable for achieving target new investment volumes and profitability measures.

-Review funding requests, manage the approval of same, manage fundings.

-Maintain spirit of cooperation and teamwork with associates within capital markets group, various field offices, the Mortgage Portfolio Unit and senior management.

-Explore, evaluate and present new investment products strategies, structures and/or market areas.

-Provide competitive market information

-Participate on regional investment committee

-Contribute to and implement real estate capital market strategies.

 

Required Competencies

 

7+ years of real estate investment experience

MBA or related graduate degree, a plus

Strong financial analysis skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong teamwork-driven attitude
