Balance Sheet & Capital Planning Associate   Balance Sheet and Capital Management is a group within Treasury that is vital to the firm’s long-term stability.

 

Balance Sheet Planning

The Balance Sheet & Capital Mgmt group leverages all LOBs as well as other staff functions to monitor and recommend actions to the Firm’s $1.3 Trillion balance sheet. A significant portion of this position’s responsibilities support in-depth balance sheet analysis, in order to maximize the efficiency of the Firm’s capital structure for purposes of supporting balance sheet activities.

 

Capital Planning

This group is also responsible for the management of the Firm’s capital and capital structure based on guidance and policies set by the Office of the Chairman (OTC), Executive Risk Committee (ERC) and the Asset & Liability Committee (ALCo).  The capital plan measures the Firm’s capacity to grow existing business, repurchase stock or acquire new business within the boundaries of remaining well capitalized (as defined by regulators, rating agencies, and investors) and within the guidelines/targets set forth by management.

 

Balance Sheet & Capital Planning Associate Responsibilities:
Assist in gathering/redesign of balance sheet analytics
Help think through new and innovative ways to maximize Firm and LOB’s balance sheet information, spot and average for both assets and liabilities, as well as risk-weighted assets (including capital/ debt issuance)
Lead ad hoc projects relating to the equity issuance, Return on Assets, Return on Equity, Return on Risk Weighted Assets, Earnings per Share, and Capital of the firm.
Assist in development of a corporate and legal entity balance sheet process for capital planning and other specific areas of Treasury
Respond to ad-hoc requests which provide opportunities to get involved in other segments of the Treasury group as well as Line of Business Finance staff

Skill Requirements


1.  Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.


2.  Focused work ethic, good business sense, and demonstrated initiative


3.  Strong analytical, investigative problem-solving, and decision making skills


4.  Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills


5.  Ability to work under pressure, prioritize multiple tasks, and bring tasks to complete closure


6.  Clear and concise communication ability both written and verbal


7.  Ability to communicate to management in a clear, concise manner


8.  Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel (CMR, Hyperion, PRF, LIBRA is beneficial)


9.  A general knowledge of Balance Sheet and/or Capital Management is preferred
