Bookkeeper/Assistant Plan Administrator

RSM McGladrey Retirement Resources, a focused leader on creating retirement plan solutions that meet the needs of companies on the move has three exciting opportunities for Bookkeeper/Assistant Plan Administrators in our Annapolis, MD office.

This person will be trained to perform plan document reviews, download data into our pension system, data checks, calculations via pension system, compliance testing, plan asset reconciliation, and complete/update Exel spreadsheets.

Background/Work Experience Required:
* The ideal candidate must have at least 3+ years of Accounting/Bookkeeping or Finance background, with asset reconciliation experience.
* The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

Additional Experience Preferred but not required:
* Experience with importing/exporting spreadsheets
* An education focused on Accounting/Finance

Interpersonal Skills/Characteristics:
* Must have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
* Must be detailed oriented while maintaining accuracy
* Must have the ability to think and make decisions quickly
* Must relate and communicate well with a variety of people
* Must have strong organizational skills
* Must be willing to take responsibility for work produced

Position Summary
The primary objective of this position is to insure retirement plans are in compliance with IRS/DOL regulations. This position will be responsible for interacting with the client regarding the administration of the plan. Perform plan administration for retiremet plans.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include things such as:

* Update and review of census and eligibility
* Basic trust accounting
* Allocations of contributions, income and forfeitures
* Process plan distributions and loans
* Compliance testing (including ADP/ACP, Top Heavy)
* Review plan documents
* Preparation of Government forms (e.g. 5500s, 5330)
* Communication with client contacts and brokers
* Perform other duties as assigned
* Regular attendance in accordance with scheduled work hours is required

Must be a team player but also work well independently, have a strong ability to problem solve and must pay close attention to detail. Must have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, to think and make decisions quickly. Must have strong organizaitonal skills. Must have demonstrated proficient use of computer operations (relational databases) and software packages (word processing, spreadsheet, graphics).

LANGUAGE SKILLS
This position interacts at all levels within the organization as well as with external contacts. Because of this, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to ensure the daily projection of a professional customer-focused image. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and to interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
No exceptional physical demands are required of the incumbent beyond those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. The incumbent must have close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus. The incumbent will spend majority of on-the-job time sitting. Must have manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Frequently lifts up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

TRAVEL DEMANDS
Occasional overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.

Work environment is well-lighted, heated and/or air conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Environment is subject to moderate noise levels (examples: business office with typewriters and computer printers, light traffic).
