Business Analyst, Amazon Global Payment Services

Enabling Amazon.com’s millions of users to quickly, easily and securely buy and sell items has been Amazon.com Global Payments’ core business since its inception. As Business Analyst for this team, the candidate will extract data, typically using SQL and Business Objects, to support ongoing key strategic decision-making to help the team’s purpose. The candidate will translate business information needs into business requirements, set up and run data queries, and analyze, package and communicate the output. Finally, the candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities based on the data, making recommendations and taking ownership for the implementation of those recommendations.

 

The candidate will need to:Develop a deep understanding of Amazon.com’s Payments business and customer base Understand at an expert level the source, content and definitions of data residing in Amazon.com Global Payments’ data sets, as well as the business rules for extracting customer and transaction data Translate business information needs into business requirements by working closely with managers across Amazon.com Global Payments Structure and run queries (typically SQL). Reality check, probe and analyze the output Present findings in various formats including email, spreadsheet, charts, and slides Based on the data, suggest product and marketing solutions to capitalize on opportunities and take ownership for the implementation of some of those opportunities Develop and present business cases Develop financial forecasts and track success metrics of approved initiatives Prototype reports for complex or ill-defined business questions and work with financial reporting function to “productionalize” based on business needs Develop sophisticated customer behavior and segmentation analysis

3+ years relevant experience translating business information needs into business requirements Production caliber SQL skills, preferably in Oracle relational databases Experience working with extremely high volumes of data (>1B records per table) Mastery of Microsoft Excel and strong presentation skills Experience with Microstrategy, Business Objects and Queryman a plus Excellent communication skills to present analytical results verbally and in written form Superb attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast paced and dynamic environment Bachelors Degree or Equivalent required
