Cost Report Analyst - Intermediate
Responsible for independently preparing, reviewing, and filing Medicare Cost Reports. Coordinate all audits, desk reviews, appeals, amendings, and reopenings related to the Medicare cost report. actively peer review other analysts cost reports. Responsible for independently preparing, reviewing, and filing Hospital Annual Reports.
Major Responsibilities
Ø Meet all deadlines, both internal and external.
Ø Work independently on all Cost Report and HAR responsibilities. Provide support and instruction to Cost Report Associates as appropriate.
Ø Prepare annual Data Requests for Site Finance.
Ø Prepare and file Medicare Cost Reports.
Ø Prepare and file all amended and reopened Cost Reports.
Ø Prepare and file Hospital Annual Reports.
Ø Peer review other Reimbursement analysts’ cost reports. Provide detailed review notes. Respond to peer review notes.
Ø Coordinate / facilitate Fiscal Intermediary (FI) audits and desk reviews. Respond to FI data requests. Act as a liaison between the FI and the organization's Site Finance / System Office Accounting staff.
Ø Coordinate all provider appeals including correspondence, documentation, tracking, regulatory filings, and administrative resolution of open issues.
Ø Attend designated Reimbursement and provider / department staff and leadership meetings.
Ø Attain 16 hours of Medicare / Medicaid related continuing education.
Qualifications
Ø Education:
§ B.S. / B.A. required, preferably in Business Administration or related field
Ø Experience:
§ 2+ years of applicable experience with a Fiscal Intermediary, Public Accounting, Health Care Provider, or Consulting background.
§ Applied knowledge in accounting and finance.
Ø Leadership:
§ Results driven; accountable for achieving personal and departmental performance standards as dictated in policies and procedures.
§ Focused on providing the highest possible level of professionalism to Site Finance and to Fiscal Intermediary auditors.
§ Demonstrate active personal and professional growth.
§ Provide development support and coaching to associate analysts.
Ø Skills:
§ Communication:
- Effective solution-oriented communicator as demonstrated through professional written and verbal skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships outside the immediate work group.
§ Computer:
- PC applications in a Windows environment, with specific emphasis on MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
§ Organizational:
- Able to prioritize workload.
- Able to handle expected volume of work.
- Adapt well to change.
- Ability to understand and apply new concepts.
