Stark Investments and its affiliated group of companies encompass investment management and securities trading activities around the world.  Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with additional offices in Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, London, Singapore, and Toronto, Stark Investments currently employs approximately 270 people.  The Firm provides administrative and investment management services to a family of private investment vehicles with assets in excess of $9 billion (USD).

 

Stark Investments is comprised of a family of multi-strategy funds that will also encompass real estate, structured finance and private equity.  These funds use a variety of investment strategies in order to achieve attractive and non-volatile risk adjusted returns.  Among the strategies employed are convertible arbitrage, risk arbitrage and event driven trading, quantitative long/short, fixed income trading, distressed investments and investing in private placement transactions.

 

Stark Investments has been at the forefront in developing and applying financial theory, along with information and communication technology, to trading derivatives and equity securities.  The dedicated team of financial engineers, software developers, and traders develop proprietary, real-time valuation and risk management systems to price and trade derivatives and equity securities for the funds. 

 

POSITION PURPOSE

The primary purpose of this position is to provide analytical support to the trading desk as a member of the research team.  Focus is on fixed income, convertible and equity securities, both investment grade and below-investment grade. This position is responsible for performing securities and market analysis, as well as industry and issuer analysis, identifying sectors and credits that offer exceptional value in the convertible securities market.  Additionally, this individual will communicate and build relationships with investment banks and other research sources and effectively leverages those relationships to assist in monitoring and analyzing credits.

 

RESPONSIBILTIES

? Analyze prospectuses to determine structure and covenants of new issues, secondary issues and existing holdings.

? Analyze complex structured transactions assessing the risks on a relative value basis. Prepare financial and operating statistics on the company under investigation; utilize quantitative and qualitative information obtained to determine financial, competitive advantages and disadvantages.

? Track economic, market and industry data of importance.

? Perform analysis on individual existing holdings, as well as those not currently held, to make proactive credit recommendations.

? Proactively monitor industry/sector developments and recommend changes to exposures when warranted.

? Build relationships with analysts at investment banks and other research houses and leverage those relationships to maximize the flow of timely information and to assist in monitoring and analyzing all credits and industries.

? Where appropriate, meet with or contact members of a company?s senior management, customers, suppliers, auditors, banks, institutional lenders, trade organization, investment bankers, research sources, rating agencies, and/or others to assist in making a proper investment decision.

? Make the best use of existing available technology to improve the efficiency and productivity of performing analysis, accessing information and communicating ideas/results.  Recommend new technology when applicable.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

? High level of proficiency in credit analysis and accounting, with an emphasis on financial statement analysis.  Extensive analysis of new investment opportunities as well as existing portfolio of bonds requires an ability to focus on main events and to grasp key issues quickly.

? Familiarity with leveraged balance sheet analysis.

? Ability to develop and nurture business contacts.

? Ability to analyze and assess corporate and financial structures, covenants, interest rates and other terms.

? Knowledge of current events/trends impacting business issues (i.e. macro-economic, socio-political, industry, etc).

? Ability to read and evaluate complex written documentation.

? Ability to communicate concisely orally and in writing. Spanish and/or Portugese language skills strongly preferred.

? Ability to manage and prioritize numerous tasks simultaneously.
