Director - Alternative Investments Unit

Summary of Responsibilities

 

- Manage a world class reporting and analytics group that will allow the AIU asset managers to meet performance and risk management objectives for the $8+ billion General Account portfolio of partnership interests and debt and equity investments.

 

Principal Responsibilities

 

- Oversee the development of systems, processes and reports necessary to manage the AIU portfolio, including performance measurement and attribution reports.

- Lead all AIU activities related to the income planning and projection process; serve as the interface between the AIU and Income Planning.

- Oversee annual portfolio benchmarking analyses.

- Coordinate analyses of the impact of GAAP, statutory and tax policies on specific investment or portfolio performance; perform scenario and valuation analyses as requested.

- Understand Investments- General Authorizations, derivatives use plans, statutory and GAAP reporting and tax strategies, and how they affect the AIU-s business initiatives.

- Serve as the AIU's compliance officer; work with Investments Risk Management and the AIU asset managers to define measurements and responsibilities.

- Serve as the AIU's liaison with the Executive Operations unit; provide submissions for the quarterly analyst calls. Review relevant board reports to ensure accuracy.

- Ensure that all AIU investments are accurately reflected in SEC filings, quarterly financial statements, rating agency information and management reports.

- Satisfy management information requests as necessary, including income, capital gain/loss and impairment projections.

- Serve as the AIU's audit liaison.

- Serve as the AIU's information technology liaison; complete the implementation of the Investran system.


Required Competencies


 

- 10+ years of relevant experience.

- CPA required.

- Basic knowledge of private equity funds.

- Strong technical, communication and project management skills.

- Proven leadership and managerial skills.

- Ability to balance multiple projects and responsibilities.
