Director, Portfolio Management

Job Description: Position Purpose/ Objective: This position will be the senior leader for the Portfolio Management portion of the Near Prime Credit Risk team. They will be responsible for the management of a team of 10-15 people within the Portfolio Management and Yield Management areas. This person will be expected to have the strength and willingness to grow into an executive within the company and have the capability to potentially assume responsibility for a larger organization



Essential Functions:



1) Drive senior managers towards sophisticated strategies and business solutions in their areas of responsibility. This will require statistical and analytical expertise as well as a strong understanding of technology platforms and operations.



2)Be able to take responsibility for and own a business P&L in tandem with the Marketing and Finance partners. This will require in-depth knowledge of the credit card business (or similar financial services income statement).



3)Work with other areas of the business to achieve business goals including Compliance, Legal, Operations, Customer Service and Collections. This will require an appreciation for the cross-functional networking that must occur.



4)Be able to successfully manage and drive a project forward to achieve a business goal. This will require the ability to be autonomous in the leading of a cross-functional team of senior members.



5)Provide leadership to a large team including the development of goals, evaluation of performance, salary recommendations and hiring/firing decisions. This will require the ability to tailor management styles to different types of employees including all levels and potentially across sites.



6)Perform other related duties as may be required.

Job Experience:
A candidate for this position should hold a four year degree in a technical area (Mathematics, Statistics, Economics) with a Master’s Degree being a needed addition. Experience should include at least 7-10 years of relevant experience in a supervisory role in the financial industry. Previous positions should have included the following responsibilities: analyzing data utilizing sound statistical methods, knowledge of financial models and income statements, a clear understanding of risk metrics, direct contact with the most senior level management.
