EDITORS/ACQUISITIONS----STM PUBLISHER
Leading international SCIENTIFIC,TECHNICAL and MEDICAL PUBLISHER (STM) seeks Editors /Senior Editors. Areas of expertise; Medical, Clinical Medicine, Cancer Research, Business/Economics, Physics/Astronomy, Chemistry,and Geo-Sciences.
General responsibilities include increasing company profitability via ACQUISITIONS that are consistent with the company's reputation as a high-quality, high-level publisher. The position involves extensive author contact, proposal review, contract negotiation, preparation of manuscripts for production, promotional planning and monitoring of sales, budgets and financial planning, long range planning for growth and development of the program and management of editorial support staff.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and maintain a book and journal program in the assigned disciplines.
Acquires new books and journal projects, win new editors for book series and journals.
Maintains and develops a circle of reviewers and advisors within the assigned discipline community.
Negotiates, prepares and executes publishing contracts.
Supervises final editorial preparation of manuscripts for production.
Discusses and proposes financial and budgetary plans for program in conjunction with Editorial Director.
REQUIRED Background:
5+ years experience as an Editor, with acquisitions experience.
Prior work in Scientific,Technical and Medical Publishing.
Excellent organizational and negotiating skills.
Must have ability to travel domestic and international.
