Finance Manager-Sales Incentive and Reporting

The Large Group Business Unit has approximately 1.8 million members.

The Manager of the Sales Incentive and Member Reporting team is responsible for the administration of an $8 million incentive program and various monthly reports for the large group sales organization within Blue Shield of California.

The Manager manages activities of staff engaged in the Sales Incentive and Sales Activity Reporting Process as well as ad-hoc projects analyzing sales, marketing or product performance as required.

The Manager ensures accurate and timely incentive payment, promotes excellent relationships with the sales department, LGBU finance planning, and many other areas within LGBU and Blue Shield.

The Manager will also insure accurate and timely reporting of membership and group sales data. Membership data is used to analyze and report monthly membership activity.

Support for Sales member forecasts is coordinated with Sales and LGBU finance. Analytic support is provided to support membership sales forecast.

This is a "hands-on" position requiring the manager to posses excellent communication, technical, project management and leadership skills.

In addition to running the monthly cycle work the Manager establishes department goals and action plans.

Monitors and reports on progress in completing projects and accomplishing goals.

Resolves complex issues and problems as needed.

Provides developmental and training opportunities for team members; monitors on-going performance; communicates expectations and results on a regular basis; communicates and interprets changes in guidelines, policies, procedures and other related matters.

Coordinates with other departments to ensure effective incentive and reporting systems interfaces and to resolve problems or issues.

Prepares and submits reports and recommendations for management review.

Prepares and submits summaries and reports to Sales Leadership as required.

Serves as a resource and provides information as requested to internal and external sources on related operations.

Prepares annual operating budget and monitors costs to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.

Managerial responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Preference for candidates with experience administering or managing a sales incentive plan in any industry.

Must be an expert Access user including: advanced database design for data manipulation, reporting and simple applications, including experience with File I/O, VBA and macros, ability to assess data from multiple sources and transform the data into a useable and meaningful form.

Must have expert knowledge in Crystal Reports.

Must have strong Excel skills including: advanced data manipulation skills, ability to develop models and complex reports based on user/business specifications.

Strong preference for candidates with experience using one or more of the following:

-SAS
-SQL Designer
-Business Objects
-SQL

Prefer candidates with 1+ years of experience in the health care industry.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) and seven years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Comprehensive knowledge of computers and related financial software.

Excellent human relations and verbal/written communication skills.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
