Financial Analyst (068571)
JOB DESCRIPTION/REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Performs various accounting functions ensuring that areas of responsibility are maintained and reported accurately.
Understand the relationship between P&L and balance sheet activities.
Possess a working knowledge of accrual based accounting.
Analyze data completely, accurately and within established timeframes.
Identify problems, trends and other descriptive or predictive information to determine the business impact. Offer improvements to existing accounting processes.
Report on requested information, written or verbally, completely, accurately and within established timeframes, while maintaining clarity for the targeted audience.
Structure, prioritize, and initiate approved procedures, policies and methods.
Prepare and review laboratory financial statements, including but no limited to journal entries, accruals and prepaid expenses.
Assist laboratory controllers to research, analyze, and understand their financial statements.
Research and prepare variance explanations for actual financial results as compared to budget and to trend.
Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts.
Guide, train, and support new staff as assigned.
Coordinate staff on special projects as assigned.
Continually improve upon an understanding of the company, its business and systems.
Requires excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills, as well as knowledge of general office procedures. Requries excellent PC skills. Integrated software experience or People Soft skills a plus.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Administrative: Answer telephones, maintain logs/records, organizational skills, proficiency with numbers, research information, time management, train employees, use computerized databases, written and verbal communications.
Machine: Calculator, personal computer.
Physical Demands: Speech clarity, repetitive motions-making frequent movements with fingers and hands, standing-remaining on one?s feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping, or otherwise working with hands.
Vision Requirements: Able to pass standardized color vision test, as required by test performed. License/Certification/Education: Four-year accounting/finance degree strongly preferred w/3+ years of general accounting experience. LabCorp accounts receivable/general ledger experience a plus.
