Financial Analyst (Development Associate)

Archstone-Smith is one of the nation's leading owners, operators, developers and acquirers of apartments in major metropolitan areas across the country. The Financial Analyst provides analytical support for the development team which is responsible for locating, underwriting and development of industry leading multi-family communities in the Washington, DC and Atlanta, GA regions.




Performs underwriting and pro forma modeling of various types of apartment communities for Archstone-Smith;

Researches and performs competitive market analysis for newly proposed transactions; 

Prepares detailed financial modeling and regression analyses to determine the optimum unit mix for a special product within a changing market environment;

Helps create and expand a detailed construction database for historical information of specific project related costs relating to unit and property amenities; 

Researches zoning codes and maintains database of allowable uses necessary for locating potential properties for purchase;

Maintains database of municipal fees and approval processes;

Prepares investment memoranda for senior management;

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; Qualified candidates must have three years of related real estate experience. Candidates must also have the following skills:
Master's degree or advanced math; real estate or planning degree preferred
General market knowledge of the Washington, DC and Atlanta, GA metro area;
Experience with real estate development and underwriting preferred; 
Strong attention to detail;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
Experience with advanced financial modeling and regression analysis preferred 
Advanced Outlook, MS Word, Excel and Power Point skills;
Advanced Map Making, MS Project and database skills;

 
Hair follicle drug test and criminal background check required.
