Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, Inc., is searching for a Global Equity Research Associate for its Minneapolis Office.  The firm provides a variety of high quality investment consulting services to a rapidly growing list of more than one hundred institutional investment funds located across the U.S. We work predominantly with the financial staffs of corporations, endowments, foundations and health care providers. The aggregate invested asset base of our clients is about $50 billion.

 

We are seeking a Research Associate who will be responsible for all aspects of Global Equity research.  Global Equity research focuses on equity strategies covering U.S. and International markets across the entire market capitalization spectrum.  This position requires performing quantitative and qualitative assessments of investment managers, generating economic and topic specific research, working with consultants on searches and various topics, and presenting to clients.  Travel is estimated at 10% - 15%.

 

Responsibilities include:

?  Prepare for and conduct due diligence meetings with investment managers in Minneapolis, at investment managers? offices, and at client locations;

?  Create and maintain profiles and ratings of managers and products;

?  Identify, on a forward-looking basis, investment managers/products that should outperform their appropriate benchmarks after fees;

?  Author client and consultant communications regarding investment manager & strategy developments;

?  Provide timely responses to client and consultant requests for information on managers and products;

?  Represent the firm to investment managers by establishing, coordinating and maintaining investment manager relationships;

?  Assist in the on-going improvement of the firm?s manager research analysis;

?  Train/mentor junior colleagues and promote a professional, energetic and respectful work environment.

?  Provide ?white paper? research on various topics within global equity investments.

 

Requirements:

? Direct experience in Manager Research with a plan sponsor or consulting firm or;

? 3+ years related investment experience;

? Knowledgeable about the global equity market, the competitive landscape and emerging trends, and ability to synthesize this data to develop fixed income strategy;

? Ability to express well-thought out opinions regarding our industry, the markets, and the economy;

? Skilled at quantitative analysis, with a critical eye for spotting results that are suspicious;

? Careful and articulate speaker and writer, with a vigorous and creative prose style;

? Self-confident presence sufficient to establish credibility with a wide variety of high-level decision-makers;

? Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to promote a team-oriented office environment;

? Able to work effectively with a variety of individuals, groups and situations;

? MBA and/or CFA  Level I.

 

Preferred:

? Experience with FactSet, Bloomberg, Mobius and Morningstar.
