Industrial Research Associate

Company Overview: FTN Midwest Securities Corp is an equity research, sales and trading firm. We are a registered broker/dealer and a wholly owned subsidiary of First Tennessee Bank, N.A., which is owned by First Horizon National Corporation.  First Horizon National Corporation is publicly traded SEC registrant.  Our focus is providing institutional investors with objective, bottom-up, fundamental research on domestic companies in various industries, such as consumer, health care, manufacturing, business services and technology and financial services.  We also are a full service investment banking firm offering equity and debt underwriting, and mergers and acquisition services.

 

Position Background:  Research Associates are members of a research team tasked with providing written equity research to investing institutions on a limited number of Industrial companies.  A research associate?s responsibilities include financial analysis and research, creating complex financial earnings models, support written report production, utilizing and maintaining various outside resources for gathering data and building relationships with internal and external customers.  This position reports directly to a Senior Research Analyst and provides direct supervision to Market Research Associates.

 

Role Requirements:  The ideal candidate for this position will have:

?  A graduate degree in business or in the process of/or having obtained a CFA;

?  Minimum of one year sell-side or buy-side experience preferrably in Industrials, but not required, and has a strong interest in becoming a senior analyst;

?  Excellent communication skills to interact with senior executives of large corporations and the institutional investment community;

?  Strong writing skills;

?  A self-starter, with a strong work ethic;

?  A positive attitude to work closely with members of an equity research team;

?  Exceptional analytic and financial modeling skills;

?  Ability to manage numerous projects at once with attention to detail; and

?  Strong computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, internet searches).
