Internal Audit Officer

Job Summary   Responsible for leading a team of audit professionals in order to provide audit services for an assigned client group. Oversees audits to evaluate internal controls, make recommendations regarding control deficiencies, and identify areas of opportunity for profit improvement and/or cost control. Participates in recruiting, performance reviews and training for staff.


 


Responsibilities:


Responsible for maintaining the overall audit universe for the assigned portfolio, including risk assessment and the development of the annual audit plan. Meets periodically with senor management in assigned areas.


Responsible for the completion of assignments within the annual audit plan .


Directs the performance of audits and ensures adherence to audit quality standards.


  Provides executive management with reports on audit findings and root causes, and provides recommendations on areas for improvement in business processes and internal controls to prevent/minimize future control risks.


Monitors management's corrective action plans from prior audits to ensure complete follow-through and closure of identified risks.


Provides leadership to audit employees to ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively; contributes and implements new ideas to make group more effective.


Accountable for the career development and performance management of audit employees.


Periodically meets with the external auditors to ensure optimal audit coverage and an efficient, economical coordination of efforts.


  Develops and maintains client relationships with senior leaders.






The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:



College or University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. 


A CPA is preferred and a CIA is desired.


Ten or more years of audit and/or financial experience, with at least 3 years of which involved managing the work of audit and/or financial professionals. 


Strong oral and written communication skills. 


Project management experience. 


Knowledge and application of financial principles and standards.
