Summary

 Senior-level subject matter expert responsible for processes or operating arrangements affecting a business function or activity. Provides information and helps resolve user problems regarding assigned systems. May act as a liaison between the department and IT personnel to support the unit's business needs, and/or represent user area in all system enhancements and design activities. May develop new or revise existing methods, processes, and other operating arrangements. May prepare recommendations to management which produce more effective, cost-efficient means of accomplishing work; recommendations may include changes in workflow, revisions of forms, and changes to automated processes. May review user requests and conduct data-gathering interviews; may document business specifications, and prepare and organize background data to support work authorization requests. Knowledgeable in business processes and systems infrastructure rather than applied technology.

Functional Responsibilities:

 Manages larger scale projects from initial design through implementation; monitors progress and initiatives, milestones, and budgets to ensure timelines and deliverables are met.

 Plans, develops, and approves specifications or procedures, and evaluates best practices to determine project standards.

 Manages critical relationships with vendors, consultants, and internal end-users, as well as managers/peer subject project managers of related business functions.

 Requires independent judgment and decision making latitude to address non-standard assignments and devise solutions often without precedent. Supervisory Responsibilities: None, but requires ability to lead and motivate project team members that are not direct reports, as well as providing work direction to lower-level staff members.

 Experience:

 Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, and 5+ years of related work experience.

 Advanced knowledge of the business functions, systems, and infrastructure of the area supported.

 Advanced knowledge of systems design processes, methodologies, and testing tools.

 Actuarial background

 Strong technical and analytical skills

 Strong communication skills, written and verbal
