Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
With ownership of overall controllership, strategic and tactical planning and analysis, budgeting and reporting, the director will work closely with senior management and the finance team across all operating and support areas of the business to develop, consolidate and report quarterly estimates, operating plans, strategic plans and related variances for the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.

Coordinate & lead quarterly closes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to MSNBC and NBC News management, NBCU TV Group and corporate. One of the most important aspects of this role is finding, evaluating, and reporting risks and opportunities to the company's budget commitments.
Ownership all FP&A Processes:
Consolidated forecasting process
Quarterly close process including pacing and submission materials
Annual and long-range plans
Capital planning, reporting & analysis
Variance analysis
Risks / opportunities - communicating and working closely with business operating and finance leads
Executive presentations on business and project initiatives
Leading regular business reviews to analyze results and key information
Working with SAP Implementation team to redesign MSNBC financial reporting structure and accounting flow for a January 2008 roll-out
Building and mentoring a first-class FP&A team (Manager and FMP)

Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelors Degree required
Minimum 6 years of experience of Financial Planning and Analysis
Minimum 5 years management experience - coaching skills and dedication in developing team

Strong time-management skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

General:
MSNBC is a $260+MM revenue and $80+MM operating margin cable business with continued double-digit growth projections. MSNBC encompasses both live and taped news entertainment such as Hardball with Chris Matthews, Headliners and Legends and continuous breaking news coverage during the daytime hours. The FP&A role is very operational in nature due to the entrepreneurial spirit of the channel, live production on the premises and over 600 employees and position works very closely with the finance managers at MSNBC and NBC News, as well as MSNBC senior management.

This is a key leadership position on the NBCU TV Group finance team that will support and drive the division at a critical time in the organization's history as the business is pursuing strategic changes in its programming line-up, as well as further integration with NBC News.

The Director will lead the team in identifying areas of opportunity and implementing new processes and accounting procedures. The Director will also be involved in a TV Group initiative to further leverage synergies within all the News and Information businesses, which will provide a lot of exposure to the editorial and operational backbone of the business. In addition, the Director will have oversight in designing the financial reporting structure for MSNBC as the company is planning for the transition from PeopleSoft to SAP financial systems.
